QUEENSVILLE, ON – 15-year old Late Model prospect Eric Hincks has set the bar high for his upcoming campaign at Full Throttle Motor Speedway.
The second-generation racer hopes to tally not only his first feature victory but also his first career division championship in 2019.
“I know that if we can start strong and get our confidence up – the sky is the limit for us this season,” says Hincks. “We went back to the drawing board this Winter because we knew that we needed to be better.”
“We took a bit of a step backwards last season and we were spinning our wheels a bit with all of the bad luck that we had to work through. Now, we just have to come back out and work hard to get ourselves turned in the right direction.”
The youngster speaks with calm and poise well beyond his years – thanks in part to the fact that the 2019 FTMS season will mark Hincks’ fourth full year behind the wheel of a Late Model, having debuted as a 12-year old rookie in 2016.
“I’ve been lucky to have had the chance to have three full seasons in this division to understand the ins-and-outs and to get a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t,” explains the Queensville, ON native.
“Working your way to the top of this division is a serious marathon. You can’t really put a timetable on it because there’s not really a shortcut towards experience – you just have to put in the time.”
Despite a 2018 season marred by poor fortune, the rising star still managed a number of podium finishes en route to a 4th place finish in the championship points standings. His family-owned team now hope to build on the bright spots established throughout last year.
“There were times last season that I really believe we showed how strong we can be,” notes Hincks. “We just have to take those nights and drag them out over a whole season. It’s a ton of work, no doubt. But, I believe in our team and know that we can outrun the rest of the guys on this roster.”
