GUELPH, ON – Following a part-time APC Series campaign last season, second-generation racer Tyler Di Venanzo has confirmed that his family-operated team will follow the entirety of the cross-province tour in 2020.
“To have the opportunity to commit to a full tour this Summer is gigantic for our team,” says Di Venanzo. “This tour is the top of the mountain right now as far as Late Model racing in the province is concerned. These teams that we’re going to get to race against every week are the pinnacle. The best of the best.”
“Our team couldn’t be any more excited to have this chance,” adds the former OSCAAR Modified Tour regular. “The guys the that are running at the front of the field in these events represent the best programs in Ontario. Their stuff is everything that I want our team to grow into. Having the chance to test ourselves against them is everything we could ask for right now.”
Di Venanzo made six attempts at APC United Late Model Series competition in 2019 and credits the partial schedule for helping to prepare his program prepare for their full time assault on the tour in 2020.
“Being able to understand what the competition level is all about was a game-changer for us last year,” explains the second-generation racer. “We’re more ready for the adjustment period and the changes we’re going to need to make if we want to eventually be a factor in these tour races.”
“It’s everything from how we prepare at home before we ever load the car to how we treat our adjustments in the pits. When you’re Time Trialing to qualify you really need to make sure your stuff is right. Because, as good as these fields are, we want to do everything in our power to make sure we’re not coming from the trunk every week.”
Di Venanzo will work with first year Crew Chief Taylor Holdaway – himself a former Limited Late Model champion – with hopes of building a program capable of eventually contending for wins on the cross-province tour.
“I absolutely believe in the team we’ve built,” says Di Venanzo. “We understand what we’re going up against on this tour. But, Taylor has a ton of high-level experience racing Late Models in Ontario and I’m excited to have him calling the shots for us.”
“We wouldn’t be going ‘all in’ on racing with the tour if we didn’t think we were capable of running with these guys. There’s an awesome mix of veterans and young guys on the roster and our whole team is excited to see what type of show we can put on with them.”
“It’s an exciting time for us because we feel like we’re building something special right now,” adds Di Venanzo. “There are a ton of heavy hitters on the APC (Series) roster and I’m counting the days until I’m on track with them. This is going to be a massive year for us.”
