HILLSDALE, ON – Following a 2017 season that saw his Hillsdale Service Centre team establish themselves as a weekly contender, Thayne Hallyburton is ready for a fulltime return to Ltd. Late Model competition during this Saturday’s Sunset Speedway opener.
“We expect to win every single time we pull into the speedway,” says Hallyburton matter-of-factly. “But, Opening Night is even more special for us.”
“We’ve been putting in a lot of hours in the shop to make sure the car is close to right – the key is going to be to make the right adjustments through the day and capitalize on whatever opportunities come our way.”
Hallyburton – alongside the rest of Sunset Speedway’s headline division – will utilize April 28th’s event as his first chance to adjust to the speedway’s new 10-inch tire that’s expected to shuffle the deck on the wildly competitive division.
“Night One is going to be a real good measuring stick to see where everyone is at,” details ‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’. “We’re all going to be on four new tires with a brand new package that’s expected to drop lap times by over a second. It’s going to be interesting to see who can adapt the quickest.”
After an off-season of work and preparation, Hallyburton and his family-owned team will most certainly be looking towards victory lane in Night 1’s twin 35-lap features.
“I’ve been anticipating this one for a long time,” smiles Hallyburton. “I trust my guys more than anything. I know how much work we’ve invested in this program. We’re as good as anybody on the roster. We just need to prove it now.”
“If we can put together a win on Night One, that would let us know that all those hours this Winter have been worth it,” continues the multi-time feature winner. “We’ve had some good years these last few seasons. But, we haven’t been able to put it all together yet. Hopefully this is the year we can find that total package.”
