Taylor Holdaway Has No Regrets I’m Stepping Back From Fulltime Competition

ORILLIA, ON – Former Sunset Speedway champion Taylor Holdaway is ready for a much-needed change in 2018. After almost a decade of full seasons spent chasing points championships in the Ltd. Late Model division, Holdaway will follow a much more compressed schedule this year, opting for more of a ‘quality over quantity’ approach.

“This year is going to be a lot different for us – but we’re looking forward to it,” says Holdaway. “We’ve been grinding it out for eight years at Sunset running for championships and it’s really taken a toll on our entire team.”

“I knew that we needed to switch things up this season,” continues the second-generation racer. “I’m happy to take a step back and run a part time schedule. It’s important for us to come back and find the fun and enjoyment that you can lose in this sport when you’re racing 25-times in a season.”

After posting top-2 finishes in the Sunset standings from 2013-2017, Holdaway is ready to focus more on wins and a more relaxed atmosphere when it comes to his Holdaway Automotive-supported Ltd. Late Mode program.

“I don’t think we have much more to prove when it comes to points racing,” Stat’s the Orillia, ON native. “This year is going to be more about having fun. Our schedule is pretty loose right now. We don’t feel any pressure to come out and show that we can run at the front every Saturday for eighteen weeks straight.”

“We’re planning on racing when we want and then taking weekends off when we need to. We aren’t married to anything this season and that’s what we’re excited about. We’ll be fresh every time we roll through the gates and ready to jump up front and be competitive.”

In addition to his lauded Ltd. Late Model team, Holdaway is also in the process of scheduling a number of Pro Late Model outings across the Midwest and Southeastern United States.

His next outing is tentatively scheduled for the opening round of the Great Lakes Concrete Ltd. Late Model Series at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity on May 19th and 20th.
