KINGSTON, ON – Sportsman standout Jessica Power finished off her best season of weekly racing to date with a 4th place finish in the season-end points standings at Weedsport Speedway earlier this month.
The impressive finish was the result of a season’s worth of hard work, consistency and an unrelenting work ethic that has drawn praise from both her peers and crew members alike.
“We’ve had a great car all season,” beams Power. “There may have been some nights where we didn’t have the luck that we needed – but our setup was as solid as I could ask for. We’ve had a piece that can compete with the top teams in this division night after night and it’s been awesome for our confidence.”
In addition to their weekly prowess at Weedsport, Power’s family-owned operation also secured a 5th-place finish in the 2019 DIRTcar Sportsman Central Region series points, outgunning some is the best teams in Ontario and New York.
“Knowing that we finished ahead of some of the absolute top outfits in this region is an incredible feeling,” admits the Kingston, ON native. “It lets us know that we’re moving in the right direction with our stuff.”
“I really can’t say enough about this team,” continues Power. “They don’t get enough credit for how they’ve helped build this program up. Racing as much as we do can be tough on all of us but they’ve never even considered giving up. They never stop working. They never cut a shop night short. We’re starting to really peak as a team and that wouldn’t be possible without them.”
Power is now preparing for a full slate of championship points races – beginning with Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY on September 28th and ending with the lauded World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“We always find a way to come alive late in the season for these bigger events,” says Power. “It’s an exciting environment to be a part of. This are shows that every team wants to add their names to. We’ve got some momentum on our side now because we’ve been running really well the last month or so and my goal is to keep that going and bring back a big win or two before we start concentrating on 2020.”
