HAMBURG, NY – After posting impressive results in his first season spent with car owner Frank Booker’s ‘Booker Motorsports’ outfit in 2017, fan favourite Scott Wylie is hoping for a fulltime return to the ROC Modified Tour in 2018.
Wylie, alongside crew chief Billy Putney, registered a trio of top-5 finishes throughout the season, capped off with two particularly impressive performances during Lancaster Speedway’s US Open and Lake Erie Speedway’s Race of Champions.
“I’m incredibly proud of what Billy Putney and I established in 2017,” smiles Wylie. “We had never worked together before but we found a way to gel right off the bat. He’s been a pleasure to work with – without a doubt one of the smartest Crew Chiefs I’ve ever had.”
After overcoming a less-than-ideal start to the 2017 ROC Tour, Wylie and the Booker Motorsports team found their footing and repeatedly showcased an ability to improve and contend for podium finishes with each outing on tour.
“Running inside of the top-5 on a regular basis against this caliber of competition is a huge feather in our cap,” says the Hamburg, NY wheelman. “We really had to work through a lot of mechanical problems during our first three races of the season, but after that we were improving with every race.”
“I really believe that we were showing off new facets to our game every week,” adds Wylie. “We were a better version of ourselves every time we hit the racetrack. This is absolutely a program that can win races on this tour.”
Wylie will use the offseason months to meet with potential sponsors and find the sponsorship necessary to make his dreams of following the full ROC Tour with Booker Motorsports a reality.
“Right now we’ve been working nonstop to do everything that we can to put together a full schedule for 2018,” says Wylie. “At the end of the day, it all comes down to marketing partners and securing the kind of backing we need to go on the road for the whole schedule.”
“I’m confident that we’re going to be able to put something together,” continues the well-spoken veteran. “We have a lot of awesome people in our corner and we’ve assembled a fantastic team to chase some wins with. We have faith and we aren’t afraid to work hard – that’s a tough combination to beat.”
