SAUBLE BEACH, ON – Count Sauble Speedway Thunder Car champion Zack Casemore as another top-level racer to commit to the upstart Great Lakes Concrete Series. The mini-series will split six races between Sunset Speedway and Sauble Speedway in 2018 and has already drawn interest from some of the very best short trackers in Ontario.
“I think this series is one of the most exciting things to happen to this division in a long time,” smiles Casemore. “We’re excited to be a part of it as a team. It’s an honour to have the chance to race for the first championship. We’re really looking forward to these six races.”
Casemore emerged as one of the division’s most interesting prospects last season, parlaying an impressive Sauble Speedway weekly campaign wrought with podium finishes into a first career Thunder Car division championship.
Now, the Sauble Beach, ON product is eager to defend his home track against what is anticipated to be an all-star caliber field.
“There’s no doubt that these races are going to bring out the best of the best,” says Casemore. “We take being Sauble champions really seriously. We want to represent our hometrack and make Sauble look strong. The only way we can do that is to stand toe-to-toe with these other teams and come out on top.”
The soft-spoken titlist has never been one for trash talk, but is approaching the 2018 season with the type of quiet confidence that comes from the kind of career year his family-owned team registered in 2017.
“I think we may have snuck up on some people last year,” laughs Casemore. “It doesn’t bother me one bit if people underestimate us. It’s all the same to us. We’re just going to keep improving and keep working hard.”
“This series is probably going to bring out one of the best rosters we’ve ever raced against. We’re already preparing for it. We’ll be ready with our best stuff for the opener and we’ll see how far it takes us.”
