NORWOOD, ON – After posting a head-turning 3rd place finish in last Sunday’s OSCAAR Super Late Model Series season finale, popular veteran Ryan Kimball is playing his cards close to the vest when asked if his podium finish is indicative of a possible fulltime Super Late Model run in 2018.
“Knowing that we can run up front in the Super [Late Model] absolutely gives us more avenues for next season,” says Kimball. “We’ve known for a long time that our Limited Late Model program is one of the best around – but this Super [Late Model] program is unreal right now. We’re fast in anything we unload with.”
The former Peterborough Speedway champion has been long-established as one of the top Limited Late Model racers in the province and would relish the chance to campaign Sean Grosman’s SMG Motorsports Super Late Model next season.
“I’ll race anything at any time – but the more I think about it the more I want to run the Super,” admits Flyin’ Ryan. “There are guys on the OSCAAR roster like Glenn [Watson] and Derrick [Tiemersma] that I have a ton of respect for but I haven’t had many chances to race with. It would be an honour to put together a schedule where we can contend for our first OSCAAR win.”
However, no matter what direction Grosman decides to take his team in, there’s no question Kimball will be ready to perform.
“At the end of the day, it’s going to be Sean’s call,” notes Kimball. “He’s the best friend and car owner that I could ever ask for and I’m down with whatever plan he wants to put together” All I want to do at the end of the night is to countine to give strong runs each and every time I hit the track, And chase a Championship like Sean did this season.”
“His equipment is top of the food chain stuff and I know that we can come out and put together some real strong runs no matter what car we’re in. You’ll just need to stay tuned.”
