ORILLIA, ON – Longtime Super Stock racer Robbie Sikes will return to weekly competition each and every Saturday at Sunset Speedway in 2019. The second-generation racer is very happy to be teamed up with Eldon Wallis and Rick Spencer-Walt plans for a (2) car adventure that will afford him the opportunity to explore new avenues this season.
“This is a deal that sort’ve fell in my lap – but I’m real excited to get it put together,” says Sikes with a grin. “I love driving a racecar more than just about anything in the world. To get an opportunity to team up with arguably one of the most successful teams in Ontario is just incredible. Some of my most successful seasons came when Rick and I worked together.”
“The [Limited Late Models] have had a rough couple years – but I think they’re getting ready for a rebound this season,” explains the Orillia, ON native. “It’s something that I’m excited to be a part of. This car is way too good to sit at home and be a garage baby. I’m looking forward to getting into a proven piece. I’m glad Rick was to attached to the car to sell it, giving me this opportunity.”
And, while Sikes has not yet formulated a plan of attack, he’s really looking forward to racing against a list of drivers that have the talent that Sunset has to offer, it’s clear the blue-collar veteran is passionate about his new endeavour.
“There are a lot of big Late Model teams that I’m excited to run against. I’ve got a list of drivers that I’m thinking about that will push me to be on my “A” game ever week.”
