ORO-MEDONTE, ON – With the memory of a pair of runner-up finishes during May 11th’s season opener twin features still fresh in his head, championship hopeful Rick Spencer- Walt will be back at Sunset Speedway this Saturday intent on fashioning his first victory of the 2019 season.
“We haven’t raced the Limited Late [Model] in a few weeks but the plan is to pick up right where we left off.”
‘The Upgrade’ has declared his intentions of racing fulltime at Sunset in 2019 with hopes of finally earning Car Owner Eldon Wallis his first track championship.
“There’s not much more I can say about our program that I haven’t already,” offers Walt. “I have all the confidence in the world in our stuff because Eldon has given me every reason to feel that way.”
“Our Limited Late Model is just an awesome piece. It’s a well-built car and we’ve done our homework to put a good setup under it. If I can’t get the job done then it’s on me. There’s no excuses when you’re part of a team like this.”
If his Opening Night performance was any indication, Walt is likely to once again play the role of contender when the green flag flies this Saturday.
“I know that we have a car that’s good enough to win but we’ve got to do our part to get it there,” says Walt. “We need to qualify strong so that we don’t have to work harder than necessary. Starting in the back is always going to make things more interesting – but it’s not the most effective way to win races.”
“We’re headed for the front this Saturday. That’s why we’re there. This car’s been sitting for a few weeks too long – it’s ready to get moving and do some winning.”
