WOODVILLE, ON – Fresh off of a third Peterborough Speedway championship in four seasons, Thunder Car division standout Anthony DiBello is preparing his family-run operation for their chance at capturing a first-career victory in Peterborough’s Crown Jewel ‘Autumn Colours Classic’ event on October 6th, 7th and 8th.
“When we put together our list of goals coming into 2017 we had ‘winning another Peterborough championship’ and ‘winning the autumn colours classic’ right at the very top,” says DiBello.
“We wanted them both equally. Now, we’ve checked the championship off of our list and we have two weeks to prepare and make sure that we’re ready to win ‘the Classic.”
After having clinched the inside pole starting position with a victory in July’s ‘Chase for the Colours’ qualifying event, DiBello appears closer than ever to attaching his name to one of the most talent-laden list of winners in Ontario.
“I can’t think of a single other event in [Ontario] that means what this one does,” insists the second-generation star. “Nothing else compares. The Autumn Colours Classic is the pinnacle.”
“When you grow up around this sport, it means you grow up dreaming about winning this race,” continues DiBello. “All the best guys have done it. I want to join that list more than anything. It’s something that, I’m sure, I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
Upon returning to Peterborough fulltime after a 2016 expedition outside of his home track, DiBello’s team seems to have reinvented themselves and looks stronger now than ever before.
“There’s zero doubt in my mind that we have a car that can win this event,” says DiBello confidently. “This team has worked for months and months to make sure our program is strong enough to beat anyone in this province.”
“I’m excited to show everyone just how good we can be,” continues the Woodville, ON driver. “Winning this race would be a dream come true.”
