SAULT STE MARIE, ON – Fresh off of an Onaway Speedway track championship, Super Late Model standout Dustin Jackson has filed entry for this weekend’s Velocity 250 weekend at Sunset Speedway.
‘The Natural’ has enjoyed a breakout year in 2017 and will look to ride his wave of momentum into the famed doubleheader weekend with hopes of fashioning his first career Sunset Speedway victory.
“This has been, without question, the most fulfilling year of my career,” says Jackson. “Our team really came together this season to find a level of success that we’ve never had before. We’ve raced against some tough competition all year long, and we found a way to get over on them – which is an incredible feeling for us.”
Though Sunset anticipates a full field to converge on the speedway for the final round of the Fast Eddie Racewear Super Late Model Series, Jackson is unintimidated at the prospect of racing against the division’s elite.
“There are absolutely a ton of tough guys down in that area of the province – but we’ve been racing against tough guys all Summer,” insists ‘The Natural’. “2017 has been a huge learning experience for me, but I believe with everything in me that it has made me a strong competitor.”
“I don’t think there’s anything these guys can throw at me this weekend that I haven’t seen already,” continues Jackson. “I just need to keep my head on straight and make the right decisions.”
While Jackson’s 2017 has been dotted with impressive accomplishments, there’s no question a Velocity 250 triumph would be a career highlight.
“I’m not sure I’d even be able to find the words to describe the feeling if we won the Velocity,” admits Jackson with a laugh. “It’s an event that I’ve been competing at for a long time. The energy is unlike anywhere else we go. It’s a weekend that has an aura around it that’s completely unique.”
“Everyone remembers the names of the drivers that win on this weekend,” continues the second-generation star. “That’s a list that I want to be a part of. I know these other guys that have filed entries are going to say they want to win this race – but I can promise they don’t want to win it as badly as I do. I just need to prove that on Sunday.”
