OTTERVILLE, ON – Longtime Delaware Speedway product Rick Verberne has seamlessly transitioned into the Super Stock division after logging multiple championships and numerous feature victories in the perennially challenging Delaware Truck division.
Now, armed with an exciting new partnership with Spark Power Corp., Verberne is more prepared than ever to challenge for a first career Super Stock championship.
“This is a huge deal for us,” stated the Otterville, ON native. “The (Delaware Speedway) Super Stock division get more intense every weekend. Being able to put together this type of marketing support means that we’ll have the chance to keep building on our program so that we have the chance to contend for wins every time we hit the track.”
Verberne will once again carry chassis support from Dave Wight’s Wight Motorsports Inc., with the pair working to build on the momentum generated during their 2018 collaboration.
“There’s no one I’d sooner chase a championship with than “Wighty”, ” insists Verberne. “WMI’s stuff is tip-of-the-spear as far as modern technology goes, and Dave’s knowledge has helped me develop as a competitor faster than I ever could have hoped. It’s an honour to have the chance to work with him again this season.”
While Verberne exited the Delaware Truck class as one of the most accomplished competitors in the modern history of the division, he knows just how much work is ahead of him to carve out the same reputation within the Super Stock landscape.
“I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t a huge step up for us,” explains Verberne. “It’s going to take a lot of effort to be able to stand apart from the rest of the teams on this (Super Stock) roster. But – if it was going to be easy, then it wouldn’t be worth doing.”
“We have the right team and the right equipment to make this happen. I know we can keep advancing through this division and prove just how ready we are to be a major player in this car. This is going to be a big year for us.”
Rick Verberne’s 2019 program is made possible thanks to the continued support of Wight Motorsports Inc., APX Racewear, CARQUEST, McKenzie Auto Parts, Castrol Edge, Elgin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, RA Watters Graphics, Panton Paint & Collision, Dennis & Wanda Walter, DJK Racing, Canadian Linen, Bidwell Financial Services, Oxford Pallet, Oxford Civil Group and Cabral Racing Promotions.
