PAINESVILLE, OH – If Albert Francis was waiting for a sign that his move to a VanDoorn Racing Development chassis was the right one – he definitely didn’t have to wait long.
Francis’ VRD debut could not have played out any better – as he captured the feature victory in Super Late Model competition at Midvale (OH) Speedway on April 13th.
“Anytime you can win in your car’s first start – that’s an unreal feeling,” said Francis. “We were fast right off the trailer. This car was drivable no matter where I needed to put it. I can’t say enough about how impressed I was with our first night in it”
Francis made the decision to change his family-run team’s chassis alliance after his 2018 season. And, thus far, his reviews of his new partnership with brothers Butch and Johnny VanDoorn have been nothing shy of glowing.
“I’ve always heard how great it is dealing with Butch and Johnny but you never really know until you have that first-hand experience,” explains the Ohio native. “I haven’t looked back once since deciding to go with their chassis. They’ve been instrumental in our team unloading with a piece that can contend from our very first laps on track”
Francis will look to capitalize on his early-season momentum this Saturday, as his team rolls into Toledo Speedway for the 2019 ARCA Gold Cup Late Model Series opener.
“We’re riding high after Midvale but we really don’t have much time to sit around and feel good about it,” notes Francis. “It’s a quick turnaround to be ready for Toledo. One win in our pocket is a great start to the season, but the goal is to build on that every weekend. We’ll see what we can do to get to the front at Toledo this weekend.”
