GUELPH, ON – Armed with a revitalized program and a brand new Crew Chief, Pro Late Model sophomore Tyler Di Venanzo is intent on making a big splash during Flamboro Speedway ‘Operation Green Flag’ event this Saturday.
The 60-lap Pro Late Model race will serve as the de facto season opener for an Ontario short track scene still very much hampered by the restrictions imposed as a result of the COVID19 pandemic.
“I can’t wait to get back to the track just to see how well we can get this car working in race trim,” offered Di Venanzo. “We’ve just about complete redone this car over the offseason. A lot of upgrades. A lot of time and effort. I’d be lying if I said our expectations weren’t higher than they’ve ever been”
To solidify their expectations, the Guelph, ON-based team struck a deal with multi-time Limited Late Model division champion Taylor Holdaway to call the shots for their emerging outfit, with the belief that Holdaway and Di Venanzo could work together for a breakout season in 2020.
“I’m excited to work with Taylor,” offers the former OSCAAR Modified Tour competitor. “We texted for the first time together last Saturday and it felt like we were able to get on the same page almost immediately – which is all you could ever ask for when you roll out of the trailer with a new voice in your ear”
The team was pleased with the gains made during a full afternoon spent testing at Flamboro and Di Venanzo is confident that he could be the surprise standout of the inaugural ‘Operation Green Flag’.
“We made changes all day during practice and just built a pretty solid notebook for where we want to be (this weekend),” says Di Venanzo. “When it was all said and done, we were pushing the car back into the box real happy with where we ended our day”
“Honestly, we hadn’t planned on racing Flamboro at all outside of the APC (United Late Model) Series races there,” admits the teenager. “But, we really don’t know what the season is going to look like with all of the (COVID19) restrictions and changes. So, we didn’t want to pass up a chance to get this car on track, work on our chemistry with Taylor and see where we stack up against some elite-level talent.”
Tyler Di Venanzo’s ‘Operation Green Flag’ entry will be powered by Retail Design Group, Maker Pizza, MRC Wireless, Merge4 Socks, ImageWraps and Cabral Racing Promotions.
