HAMILTON, ON – Former Flamboro Speedway Mini Stock regular Mike Kenny will shift gears in 2020 as his family-run team prepares to become a regular fixture with the rebuilding Canadian Vintage Modified Tour.

“This is an exciting change for us,” says Kenny. “It’s not that we’re ready to get away from racing the Mini Stock completely, but we were absolutely ready for a bit of a change. With the way the Vintage Mod schedule is set up, we’ll be able to take on this new challenge while still travelling and contending for wins with our Mini Stock.”

The multi-time Mini Stock winner acquired a chassis from former Canadian Vintage Modified regular Max Wright over the off-season and has spent the Winter acclimating himself to his new ride in order to get up to speed in his new venture as quickly as possible.

“I know that this is going to be unlike anything I’ve experienced so far but I can’t wait to get it started,” says the Hamilton, ON native. “I haven’t quite put my finger on what my expectations are, yet. I just want to get a feel for the car and find ways to put ourselves in a position to learn every single time we roll out of the trailer and then walk out with a top-10 finish in the points standings when its time to pack everything up at the end of the season.”

Originally slated for a 14-race schedule in 2020, it’s undetermined how many events the Canadian Vintage Modified Tour will complete this season, but Kenny is committed to being a part of all of them.

“If and when the Ontario race season does get going this year, our goal is to race as much as we can at as many different speedways as we can,” notes the first-generation racer. “We’re going to put our full focus into chasing down the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title with the Canadian Vintage Modifieds and then we’ll try and get on the road as much as that schedule will let us with our Mini Stock.”
