GUELPH, ON – After two years on the sidelines, former Sunset Speedway Ltd. Late Model champion Mike Bentley will be back in fulltime action this season, as his Streamline Race Products-backed outfit prepares their run towards a first career Flamboro Speedway Pro Late Model title.
“We’re going to be a threat to win every week,” insists Bentley when asked about the strength of his team. “We put this deal together to come to Flamboro and contend for the 2018 championship. That’s where our expectations are and we aren’t going to be happy with anything less. We’re going to put in the time and effort until we’re there.”
‘Lights Out’ intends to draw on his decade-plus of Late Model experience to aid him in 2018, explaining that both the positives and the negatives of the sport have helped him develop into the competitor that he is today.
“I’ve been lucky to be around this sport and competing for a luck time – and it’s taught me about the ups and downs of how racing can work out,” explains the multi-time feature winner. “I can look back on almost every year I’ve had as a driver and find something important that it’s taught me.”
“We’ve seen what it takes to have a successful program,” continues Bentley. “All the little intricacies. All the quick decisions you need to make and the research you need to put in. We’ve seen it up close. This year, we’re going to have that program.”
With a roster that boasts some of the most recognizable names in the Pro Late Model division, Bentley knows that his work will be cut out for him each and every Saturday. However, that fact has done little to dull his enthusiasm.
“We’re coming ready to work every single week,” says Bentley. “They’ve been adding really good teams every year for a while now, and their talent pool is as deep as it’s been in over a decade.”
“I don’t think anyone is going to fall into a win at Flamboro this season. If you want to end up in victory lane, you had better be ready to put the time and effort in. We’re going to contend because we’re ready to work. I have no doubt about that.”
Mike Bentley’s 2018 efforts are made possible thanks to the support of Ram Specialized Logistics, Up & Down Lifting Solutions, Mammoet and Streamline Race Products.
