Marvin Freiburger Continues Trend Upwards with NWAAS Provincial Rookie of the Year Title

Marvin FreiburgerWALKERTON, ON – With a 2018 season built around consistent top-5 finishes, popular Sauble Speedway mainstay Marvin Freiburger earned the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Provincial Rookie of the Year title.

Freiburger – a multi-time feature winner in Sauble’s Thunder Car division – has worked tirelessly over the last several seasons to find his footing in the speedway’s notoriously talented Ltd. Late Model class, with the 2018 season as proof positive that his work is most certainly paying off.

“For a team like ours to bring back a title like that – it means more than I can explain,” smiles Freiburger. “We’ve been working hard on this program for a few years and I think it’s really started to pay off.”

Freiburger’s team – comprised of long time friends Ron MacDonald, Mark Billington and George Paulin – will travel to Charlotte, NC to accept their award as part of the annual NASCAR Hometracks banquet.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate a season like this than with my friends and team members that helped me get here,” explains the likeable Walkerton, ON native. “So many of the gains that we’ve made on this car have been through trial and error. It’s been a long road. But, these guys have never stopped working and they’ve never shied away from putting in every ounce of effort possible – I couldn’t possibly any ask for anything more.”

And, as he’s done for each of the last 10 seasons, ‘Marvellous’ Marvin has donated the entirety of his race winnings to Easter Seals in order to benefit those with serious illness.

“We put this team together in 2008 because we wanted to come out and have a good time with each other – but we wanted it to mean so much more then that,” says Freiburger. “Being able to put our winnings towards a good cause makes every single race day feel so much more important.”

“We’re moving on the track for kids that can’t,” continues the fan favourite. “And, as long as we have a race car in the shop, we’ll be looking for a way to use it to help those less fortunate than us.”
