Ltd. Late Model Title Contention a Welcomed Throwback for Veteran Jason Parker

PORT ELGIN, ON – After a venture into Pro Late Model competition with the APC United Late Model Series ended at the conclusion of the 2017 season, veteran weekly racer Jason Parker has returned to Sauble’s headline Ltd. Late Model division in a big way.
“It feels like this is where we really belong right now,” says Parker. “We’ve has some ups and downs these last two or three seasons. The Pro Late deal didn’t really end up working the way we thought it could – so it sent us back to square one a bit.”
‘The New Age Punisher’ is campaigning a McColl Racing Enterprises chassis owned by longtime friend Nick Goetz this season – and the results have been almost instantaneous.
In 8 starts so far, Parker has amassed 4 victories and currently sits 6-points ahead of his closest pursuer atop the Sauble Speedway points standings.
“Nick has done an awesome job putting together a real good team with some top-shelf equipment,” notes the Port Elgin, ON native. “I appreciate him thinking enough of me to put me in one of his cars.”
“We’ve has a great program so far this year,” continues Parker. “I think if we can keep all four corners on this car we’ll be able to keep winning right up to the end of the schedule. That’s definitely the goal, at least.”
And, after three seasons spent dedicating their energy to their Pro Late Model efforts, Parker and company are more than happy to be back on the weekly grind in a Ltd. Late Model at ‘the Beach’.
“I don’t regret following the [APC United Late Model Series] tour for one second,” insists Parker. “I had a lot of good times racing with those guys, even if we didn’t have the results that we felt we should have.”
“Right now, I’m happy with where we’re at with the Limited Late division,” continues the multi-time champion. “When [Mark] Dilley and [Paul] Gresel announced they were stepping up to promote Sauble, there was no question I’d be here to support it.”
“In my opinion, we have one of the best [Limited Late Model] program’s in the province. So we’re going to keep trying to prove that week-in and week-out. And, if we’re successful, we’ll end up giving ourselves a real good chance at wrapping up this championship.”
