ROCKTON, ON – One of the most rapidly improving racers in all of Ontario short track racing, ‘Killer’ Kevin Albers will seek to kick off his 2020 in successful fashion this Saturday when Flamboro Speedway plays host to the first ever ‘Operation Green Flag’ event.
“I’m not sure I’ve ever prepared for a season opener that’s come with this type of anticipation,” admits Albers with a laugh. “I mean, guys are always anxious to get started in the Spring, but with all of the extra time we’ve had off because of (COVID19 restrictions) it seems like we’re gearing up for an entirely different type of atmosphere”
The 60-lap Pro Late Model portion of Saturday’s show have drawn entries from clear across Ontario, with drivers from near and far aiming to exit Flamboro with the $2,000-to-win cheque and the all-important first victory of the 2020 season.
“It sounds like we’ll have teams from all over in the pits on Saturday and I couldn’t be happier about that,” says the Rockton, ON native. “It goes without saying that we’re happy to go back racing again, but that’s especially true when you have the chance to test yourself against some of the best guys in the province”
“When you look at the entry list it feels like you’re gearing up for an APC (United Late Model Series) race,” notes Albers. “These are the guys you wake up early and stay up late for. We aren’t coming into this Saturday with any lack of effort, I can promise you that. We shook the car down a couple weeks ago and we’re really happy with what we have. I think we can make a lot of noise on Saturday.”
Kevin Albers’ Operation Green Flag entry is made possible thanks to the continued support of Wasteco, Seberras Professional Services, Flamborough Doors and Cabral Racing Promotions.
