WALKERTON, ON – Super Stock veteran Kenny Grubb will enter this Saturday’s 50-lap invitational event at Flamboro Speedway intent on kicking off his 2020 season in impressive fashion.
The multi-time Sauble Speedway champion has been ready for months, but the COVID-19 pandemic has placed an emphatic pause on the 2020 season before it ever had the chance to get started.
“We have a lot of hours and effort into this car and it’s exciting that we’re finally going to get the chance to cut it loose,” says Grubb from his team’s Walkerton, ON race shop.
“This show has entries from all over. Top level guys. Cars that have won races clear across Ontario from one side to the next. So, this race is going to be as good of a test as any to see where we’re at and how much farther we have to go.”
The race will post a $1,200-to-win purse and will be contested without fans and available to watch via internet broadcast. Former track champions and Crown Jewel event winners.
“There’s a lot of excitement around this Saturday – it’s one of those races that everybody wants to win because we’ve all been sat at home waiting for so long,” explains Grubb. “Our team has been fortunate enough to have been doing this for a lot of years, so we don’t get too nervous going into races like this anymore. I know that we can win.“
When asked his mindset entering the one-off event, the personable Grubb makes it clear that his team has little interest in merely taking the place of another entry on the results sheet at night’s end.
“There’s a ton of belief that we all have in this team,” says the veteran. “Every crew member, every sponsor, every supporter – we all believe that we can come in and win this race. That means a lot to me. We’re going to put up the biggest fight that we can to outrun the best guys in this division.”
