WALKERTON, ON – Kenny Grubb’s 2019 season was one built more on quietly consistent finishes as opposed to headline-grabbing dominance. However, by the time the dust had settled, the popular veteran had walked away with his 5th Sauble Speedway Super Stock division title in the last 6 seasons.
“I never dreamt that I’d have the chance to be a part of a team that works as well as this one does,” says Grubb. “Everything that we’ve accomplished has been a group effort every step of the way. It all just works. We all get along and we all want to do anything in our power to win races. It’s an incredible combination.”
Grubb won 1 feature in 2019 but finished in the top-5 in every single one of his starts, with that head-turning consistency paving the way to a milestone 6th career Super Stock championship.
“I’m more grateful for this team than I could ever find the words to describe,” says Grubb. “This is a group of people working towards a common goal. We don’t leave the shop without having a car that we know can contend against the very best guys in this division.”
“Our goal has always been to prove that we have the best program in the province,” continues the soft-spoken veteran. “None of this has happened by accident. It’s been hours and hours of hard work. No shortcuts. But, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t worth it.”
“This season was incredible because of how hard we had to work at the beginning of the schedule. It was far from an easy process to get this car exactly where we wanted it. But we kept our heads down, kept fighting and worked our way through it.”
While Grubb’s spot amongst the best Super Stock competitors in Sauble Speedway history is all but solidified, its obvious the Walkerton, ON native still feels the same passion for competition that have kept him going for the better part of two decades.
“There’s a lot of pride in being able to say you’re one of the very best guys in a division full of really, really talented racers,” says Grubb with a smile.
“I hope that we can keep competing and keep winning with this team for a long time. We have amazing supporters and sponsors that help make all of this possible. I’m proud to represent them in this division and, as long as they say we’re going racing, I’ll be here ready to outrun the best teams around.”
