WARSAW, IN – 360 Sprint Car sophomore Josh Shantz will hope to hit the ground running this Saturday as he kick-starts his 2019 efforts during Eldora Speedway’s much-anticipated season opener.
The April 27th event – sanctioned by the NRA Sprint Invaders tour – will no doubt see some of the top 360 Sprint Car racers from across Ohio, Michigan and Indiana and Shantz is more than ready to see where his program measures up to some of the best teams in the country.
“This season is all about pushing ourselves and we knew that starting at Eldora was the number one way to do that,” says Shantz. “Our main goal is to shake our equipment down – especially our new motor – but it’s also the perfect opportunity to get a blueprint for what works on a big, fast track.”
With Shantz’s commitment to chasing Great Lakes Super Sprints Series points in 2019, there’s no doubt that his team will be pushed to adapt to new facilities as well as formulating ways to outrun top-tier competition – something that a first career start at Eldora should assist with.
“Eldora is a ‘statement’ track,” says the well-spoken rising star with a smile. “It’s one of the most famous speedways in the country. If you run well there, people tend to take notice. We want to show how good our team is this season and I can’t think of a better place to start that than Eldora.”
“We’re coming into this weekend with a car that can absolutely run up front – so the pressure of actually making that happen is on the driver,” adds Shantz. “I’ve always believed that iron sharpens iron. And, we’re never going to get better if we don’t push ourselves. So, I’m ready for this Saturday.”
