Johnny Morrison Eager to Make a Name for Himself with Inaugural Great Lakes Concrete Series Season

BARRIE, ON – Coming off of his most successful Super Stock season to date in 2017, Sunset Speedway standout Johnny Morrison will look to further establish his family-run team with a fulltime commitment to the six race Great Lakes Concrete Series in 2018.

“As soon as they put the word out about this new series – I was positive it was something we needed to be a part of,” says Morrison. “This is the kind of competition we want to be up against every week. Just look at the guys that have already said they’re running fulltime – it’s the best of the best. These are the teams you have to beat if you want to show everyone what you’re about.”

“Our goal is to just keep improving and keep building our reputation,” continues the Barrie, ON racer. “We know that, as a team, we have to make our own opportunities because no one is going to hand us anything. We’re ready to put in work this season.”

The mini-series will split its six events evenly between Sunset Speedway and Sauble Speedway and is guaranteed to pit Morrison against the very best that the Super Stock division has to offer.

“I’m hoping we have a full field of the best guys in Ontario at every event,” insists the second-generation racer. “We’re preparing for this deal like it’s going to be the six toughest races we enter all year”

“When you only have a small schedule to work with you need to make sure you’re at your best every time you hit the track,” adds Morrison. “Luck doesn’t live in this division. It’s all about how hard you work and what kind of decisions you can make. We understand that – and we’re ready for it.”

And although the series is expected to be long on elite-level talent, Morrison remains confident in his ability to stand toe-to-toe with anything thrown his way.

“We don’t load up and leave the race shop without feeling like we can win,” says Morrison. “Our team has gotten stronger with every race we’ve finished in the last five years. I don’t think there’s anyone in this division that’s straight up better than us.”

“I trust our equipment and I trust our team – we can beat anyone on any given night,” continues the likeable up-and-comer. “I want to prove myself as a driver that’s a threat to win every night. If we can impress in this series, it’ll speak volumes about what we’re capable of.”
