Jim Bowman Gearing Up for First Ever OSCAAR Modified Tour Appearance

HANOVER, ON – After having plied his trade in the Super Late Model realm for the hulk of the last decade, veteran competitor Jim Bowman will shift his course in 2019.

The well-travelled journeyman will follow the entirety of the OSCAAR Modified Tour this season – beginning with Round 1 of the schedule at Sunset Speedway on May 19th.

“When I sat down with the team midway through last Summer and started planning our 2019 we couldn’t help but keep circling back to the (OSCAAR) Modified Tour,” explains Bowman. “I’ve always had an eye on (the Modified division), but when I look at the strides they’ve made as a whole in the last five years it absolutely makes me want to be a part of it.”

After competing sporadically with the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour from 2012 to 2017, Bowman intends on racing fulltime with the Modifieds aggressive 12-race schedule.

“The effort that these teams are putting in these days is absolutely incredible,” marvels Bowman. “In no way are the Modifieds a ‘support division’ anymore. These guys are putting in headliner hours. This is a headliner tour.”

“Our team understands that we can’t be ‘half in’ and expect to compete at the front of this field,” adds the Hanover, ON veteran. “No matter who you are or how good your equipment is, if you want a sniff of the top-10 you’ve got to do things the right way – and that’s exactly what we plan to do this season.”

Having acquired a Troyer by McColl Racing Enterprises chassis from former tour winner Shane Stickel, Bowman believes he has all the tools at his disposal to leave his mark on the OSCAAR Modified Tour.

“We’re far from a finished project but I believe in my heart that we’re starting from a good place (at Sunset Speedway),” smiles Bowman. “I paid a lot of attention to the tour last season, I know that these teams are good. They’re as well prepared as anyone I’ve ever raced against. We need to be operating at our very best to contend with them.”

Jim Bowman’s OSCAAR Modified Tour debut is fueled by RE/MAX Canada, Hanover Holidays and Ghost’em Fishing.
