STONEY CREEK, ON – Former Flamboro Speedway Thunder Car regular Jeff Bean will kickoff his 2020 season this Saturday, as Humberstone Speedway plays host to the inaugural ‘Lock-down Showdown’ paying $1000-to-win and expected to draw the top Thunder Stock competitors from across Ontario.
“We made about 7 starts with this car (on dirt) last season and we’re excited to get as much experience as we can in 2020,” explains Bean. “Our stuff was all ready to go before everything was shut down. So, we couldn’t be happier to have the chance to get back to the speedway.”
“I think our team is ready for a little bit of ‘normal’ as much as everyone else is. It’s going to be a different feeling to be at the speedway without fans, but I’m grateful for the chance to be back behind the wheel.”
With less than a dozen dirt races to his credit, Bean knows that the transition to the wildly competitive Thunder Stock division will undoubtedly be accompanied by a steep learning curve. However, it’s a challenge that the veteran is more than ready for.
“This Saturday is going to be our first chance to really swim in the deep waters,” added Bean. “I believe that we have strong enough equipment to eventually run in the top-10 and contend for some wins.”
“It’s going to be all about getting the driver up to speed. Once that piece between the seat and the steering wheel is up to snuff, I know that we’ll be ready to make some noise in this division. This Saturday is the first step towards that.”
In addition to providing the chance to continue making strides on dirt, Saturday’s show will also provide Bean the opportunity to support Humberstone Speedway promoter Dave Bitner’s attempts to bring dirt racing back to action in Southern Ontario.
“We’re more than happy to be a part of this event and get behind what Dave and his staff are doing,” says the Stoney Creek, ON native. “As a promoter, he’s taking a big gamble here and I know how much all appreciate that as competitors.”
“He’s put his heart and soul into (Humberstone Speedway), especially the new track surface and this event. The fans that tune in for this deal are going to see the best 358 Modified’s and Thunder Stock teams in action. It’s going to be something worth talking about, that’s for sure.”
Jeff Bean’s 2020 debut will he made possible thanks to the support of team members Heather Penny, Kyle M. and Jeremy Bean, in addition to marketing partners Sidestreet Auto Service of Cambridge, Ray’s Auto Service of Cambridge and Cabral Racing Promotions.
