SARNIA, ON – Pro Late Model sophomore Jaden Chapman will debut a brand new McColl Racing Enterprises chassis this Saturday as Flamboro Speedway hosts the inaugural ‘Operation Green Flag’ invitational.
The $2,000-to-win show will be headlined by a 60-lap feature event and has drawn an entry list of teams and competitors from across Ontario.
“This is the first time we’ve ever had a brand new racecar without any laps on it at home in the shop,” admits Chapman. “It’s been tough just going out there and staring at it day after day. Our whole team is extremely excited to get to Flamboro and see just what we have for the 2020 season.”
Chapman credits Flamboro Speedway promoter John Casale and his staff for assembling the event on relatively short notice. The one-day show will be contested without fans and streamed online – the first of its kind in speedway history.
“John and his guys are really sticking their neck for us on this deal and I can’t say enough about what that means to the drivers and teams,” says the Sarnia, ON native.
“This race came about because fans and racers made enough noise to let the speedway know that there’s support for an event like this. Now, it’s up to all of us on the entry list to come out and put on the type of show that’ll help make more of these races a reality.”
Chapman hopes that Saturday’s outing will be the first of many ‘road shows’ for the longtime Delaware Speedway regular, as he works to diversify his program away from familiar surroundings.
“There’s absolutely a level of nervousness that comes with branching out and taking on a speedway that you aren’t totally comfortable at,” notes Chapman. “But, we know that we want to turn this program into something that can compete anywhere at any time. And, coming out against the best in an event like this is the only way to do that.”
Chapman will celebrate his 10th season with primary sponsor Ackwood Auto Parts in 2020 and will unveil a commemorative vinyl scheme at Saturday’s event to mark the occasion.
In addition to Ackwood Auto Parts, support for the team’s 2020 debut is provided by Technical Heat Treatment, Klondike Lubricants, Canada Steel, Ainsworth Inc., Crystal Clear Janitorial, St. Germain Autobody, Central Machine and Marinw Inc., Park Lane Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC, Snap On and Cabral Racing Promotions.
