The soft-spoken teenager showed a marked improvement through his sophomore season in 2016, and will kick off his 2017 schedule with newfound confidence and maturity.
“I’m a lot more confident now than I ever was when I first started,” smiles Franklin. “Our team is so prepared to get our season going. We’ve come a long way and we’ve done a lot of work over the offseason to get even further”
“Running with the Super Stock division is never easy, but it’s amazing how much you can learn against these guys,” continues the third-year racer. “Every week I’ve been on this roster I’ve picked up something new. It’s an awesome feeling”
And although Franklin still clocks in as one of the youngest drivers on the roster, the high-school student insists his days of feeling intimidated by the division’s veterans are well behind him.
“The rest of these guys don’t intimidate me at all anymore,” explains Franklin. “Right now, its all about trying to find a way to keep them behind me”
“When we’re strapped in, no matter how many years you’ve been doing this, we’re all the same size. There’s nothing any of these guys can do to rattle me”
Following a number of top-10 finishes in 2016, Franklin’s family-owned effort appears poised for a career year.
“Our team is ready to move forward this season,” says the Coldwater, ON driver. “Every week we’re going to be better. Just one foot in front of the other. The entire goal is for our next finish to be better than the one that came before it – that’s how our program is going to hit the next level.”
