Gary Elliott Enthusiastic for 2019 OSCAAR Modified Tour Opener

Gary Elliott OSCAAR Modified

WATERDOWN, ON – Veteran Gary Elliott will hope to kick-start his sixth season with the OSCAAR Modified Tour this Sunday by registering his first career Sunset Speedway tour victory as part of the track’s annual Spring Velocity weekend.

“The first race of the year is always something we look forward to as much as any other that we run all season,” says Elliott. “It’s a chance at a fresh start and an opportunity to see all of your hard work over the off-season pay off. Every team on the roster is starting back at square one – that makes things real exciting.”

The Waterdown, ON native has long professed his love of Sunset – having tallied a number of victories at the facility during his time with the Canadian Vintage Modified Tour.

“I’ve always loved racing at Sunset,” stated ‘The Ironman’. “We’ve consistently had a lot of speed there. From the Vintage Modified to our (Limited) Late Model and now our OSCAAR Modified. There are a lot of elements about the speedway that seem to agree with my style. I like our chances of winning this weekend.”

Elliott will enter this weekend’s two-day event with hopes of adding to his already impressive career statistics – including 1262 race nights since 1969 at 40 different speedways, 25 seasons having finished inside the top-5 in championship points standings and 40 feature victories – however the fact that Elliott will begin his 46th consecutive season with Quaker State as a primary sponsor is the stat he holds closest to his heart, which also helped Elliott to reach 819 consecutive starts and 2 CVM championships.

“I believe that we have the longest driver/sponsor partnership anywhere on the planet – and I could never overstate what that means to me,” says Elliott. “After hours of updates over the Winter, our goal this season is to win the OSCAAR Modified championship.”

“I thank God for my family, crew, friends, fans, competitors, promoters and sponsors – it’s about all the people. This journey has been a true blessing for me. We know that consistency wins championships, and we’re after exactly that in 2019.”
