BELMONT, ON – To say that longtime Delaware Speedway Super Stock heavyweight Gary Adriaensen is looking forward to his weekly Pro Late Model debut would be a dramatic understatement
The Belmont, ON product is more than ready to establish himself as a freshman to keep an eye on in a crowded 2019 rookie class that, at press time, includes 9 racers from different backgrounds and experience ranges.
“There’s no way I can even try to pretend that I’m not nervous about how this season might play out,” Said Adriaensen with a laugh. “The feeling of excitement around the shop these days is something different from what we’ve ever felt before. Our whole team is watching the calendar and counting the days until we can get this car on track.”
“We’ve won some real big races and championships in the Super Stock and I just want to do anything I can to find that same success in the (Pro) Late Model,” continues the longtime Super Stock standout. “I know that we have a big challenge ahead of us but I know that we have a fighting chance to make a name for ourselves as long as we keep working as hard as we always have.”
Adriaensen, one of the most well-known Super Stock racers in Ontario, will enter the 2019 season as an early favourite to claim the Pro Late Model ‘Rookie of the Year’ title – however he insists that his team’s goals extend beyond outrunning his fellow freshmen.
“I don’t want to get caught up on just racing the guys with the same experience level as me,” explains Adriaensen. “We don’t just want to be the best rookie team on the roster. We’re racing against the entire field.”
“We want to hold ourselves to a high enough standard that we’re always improving. I want to have the chance to say – one day – that we’re the best Late Model team at Delaware Speedway.”
Adriaensen will unveil his team’s new ride at the London Speed and Custom Car Show on March 23rd and 24th where he will celebrate a new partnership with incoming sponsors EPIC Racewear, WIX Filters, Raybestos Canada and Cabral Racing Promotions.
