SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Third-generation racer Dustin Jackson has announced a full slate of regional racing for the upcoming 2020 season.
‘The Natural’ will campaign both a Super Late Model as well as an Open Wheel Modified for Car Owner Bart Jarret at Onaway Speedway in Onaway, MI, Laird International Raceway in Sault Ste. Marie, ON and Kinross Speedway Park in Kinross, MI.
“I’m excited to get to do as much racing as possible this Summer,” smiles Jackson. “To be able to compete this close to home in two different divisions is an awesome feeling. It’s absolutely the type of schedule that we wouldn’t have the chance to put together if it weren’t for the right people. I’m incredibly lucky.”
“Bart (Jarret) has fantastic equipment and I know that his stuff is going to put us in position to win a lot of races,” adds Jackson. “We have good help and good sponsors right now. All the pieces are in place for us to have a real strong season and bring back a ton of hardware.”
Jackson captured the 2019 Onaway Speedway Super Late Model championship and has spent the off-season preparing for a title defense that he hopes will end with his team walking out as two-time division champions.
“Last year was huge for us as far as the gains that we made both on the track and in the shop,” explains the personable rising star. “It’s probably the year I’m most proud of out of all the time I’ve been racing. It was a dream almost from start to finish.”
“But, even with how good we were (in 2019), I absolutely believe we’re coming back with an even better program this season,” continues Jackson. “We’ve spent this entire Winter thinking about what we can do to take our Super (Late Model) program to the next level. We have a ton of ideas that we’re excited to get on the track and experiment with.”
A true student of the game, Jackson enters the 2020 season with a bevy of experience that dwarfs other racers his age. And, with maturity beyond his years, ‘The Natural’ will seek a path to cement himself as one of the foremost best short track competitors in the region.
“We want to come out this season – week after week – and just leave no doubts that we’re one of the best teams around,” says Jackson confidently. “I know that it’s about more than just having a good car and a good team. I have to hold up my end of the bargain, too. And I’m ready for that.”
“Every single aspect of our program is improving each time we hit the racetrack – and that includes me. I feel like I’m a lot smarter as a competitor now than I was at this time last year. I’m better now than I’ve ever been and I can’t even describe how excited I am to prove that.”
