MOUNT FOREST, ON – Although the 2018 OSCAAR Hot Rod Series season has been anything but ideal for short track veteran Douglas Fischer, there’s no doubting the DogHouse Racing representative’s enthusiasm entering Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest event this Saturday.
“We’ve taken a few shots to the jaw so far this season,” admits Fischer. “The fact that we’re hanging on to our (perfect attendance) streak is really just the byproduct of our team being a group of guys that’s too crazy to quit. No matter what happens – you can’t keep us down.”
Fischer’s Mount Forest, ON-based operation will unload at Flamboro sitting 4th in the series points and having – against all odds – competed in every single points-paying event thus far in 2018.
“There’s nothing I’d sooner be doing than going up and down the road with the (OSCAAR) Hot Rod Series,” says Fischer. “We’ll have a new transmission and a new balanced drive shaft in for this weekend after our mechanical problems last Sunday. We’re going to keep going and make sure that we finish this season on the track no matter what happens.”
And, while Fischer’s 2018 season has largely been a story of comebacks and perseverance, the former Sauble Speedway Thunder Car regular firmly believes in his team’s ability to carve out a win before all is said and done.
“Right now, if it weren’t for bad luck we’d have no luck at all,” details Fischer. “But bad luck can’t stick around forever. I know that we have fantastic equipment and I’m surrounded by the best team of guys I could ever have asked for.”
“We work too hard for all of this not to pay off eventually. This weekend is just the next chance for us to prove it. We’re going to keep swinging away until we can park it in victory lane.”
