OSHAWA, ON – Perhaps the most tenured member of the Peterborough Speedway Mini Stock roster, Donovan Price has left little to the imagination when it comes to what motivated his return to fulltime competition in 2017. Simply put, he wants to win a championship and won’t accept anything less.
“What we bring to the table as a team is experience,” says the always confident Price when asked if his self-owned program holds any advantages over his competition. “There’s no replacement for that. You can’t fast track experience. That’s a huge plus for us”
“I’ve been around long enough to understand exactly how important composure is when racing for a championship – and that’s going to be a huge difference maker”.
A former Late Model, Thunder Car and Open Wheel Modified regular at the now defunct Mosport Speedway and Kawartha Speedway, Price has spent the last three seasons acclimating himself to Peterborough’s challenging confines.
Now, after investing copious time and energy, Price has more than enough belief in himself as a viable championship contender.
“I honestly don’t think it’s overly cocky of me to say that our team is the high water mark right now,” shrugs the veteran. “We’re the ones these guys all want to beat right now”.
“We’ve got one of the best cars in the pits, we have the most experienced driver on the roster and we have the perfect game plan to win this championship”.
“I’ve spent two seasons figuring out what works and what doesn’t for this particular car,” adds the Oshawa, ON driver. “I couldn’t tell you what the oddsmakers would say – but in my mind we absolutely are the favourites to win this championship”.
And while past attempts at championship glory have come up short, they have only served to galvanize Price even more for his 2017 campaign.
“I’ve raced a lot of different cars at a lot of different speedways and I’ve just never been able to put together that perfect season,” admits the mercurial talent.
“We’re not going to come up short this season. We’re just not. I am committed to winning the Peterborough Speedway championship. This team is not willing or able to accept second”.
At present, Donovan Price sits second in the Peterborough Speedway Mini Stock standings, however the outspoken veteran wants everyone to know – he’s just getting warmed up.
“All we’ve done so far this season is run at the front,” says Price. “It’s going to continue. I can promise you that. Everyone else on this roster may as well get used to seeing us at the front – because we’re only going to get better”.
