INNISFIL, ON – After spending nearly the entirety of 2017’s second half away from Sunset Speedway, Super Stock standout Dan Archibald has confirmed he will be back in competition at the facility this Saturday in search of his fourth overall feature win of the season.
“Our team always looks forward to being at Sunset,” says Archibald. “It’s still one of my favourite places to race. There’s a good field of cars there that can give you a battle no matter what position you’re racing for. I appreciate that. We’ll be unloading with something to give these guys something to worry about”
And while the rest of the Sunset Super Stock division will he focused on how the race for the 2017 championship standings will play out, Archibald insists his team has little interest in how many points they can garner this weekend.
“We’re coming to win – that’s the only expectation we have,” says the veteran matter-of-factly. “I know a lot of teams on that roster are caught up in the points standings, but that’s got nothing to do with us. The only thing that interests me is the trophy and the money – they can keep the rest”
For Archibald, September 9th’s contest will set up an intense month of racing that will take his No. 07 across the province – including a trio of events at Sunset Speedway, Flamboro’s Frostoberfest and Peterborough’s heralded Autumn Colours Classic.
“We have races scheduled for the next 5 weeks and we want to start off on a high note,” says Archibald. “A win on Saturday is going to set us up for a big month of racing. Every guy in this division already knows how tough we can be to race against – but we’re still going to give them a reminder this weekend.”
