SHELBURNE, ON – Rising star Dale Reinhart will unload at Sauble Speedway this Saturday with intentions of continuing a recent hot streak that has seen the third-year Open Wheel Modified racer tally three consecutive top-5 finishes with the OSCAAR Modified Tour.
“Running with the (OSCAAR Modified) Tour has been amazing because you really do learn so much in a short amount of time,” explains Reinhart.
“These teams truly are the best pavement open-wheelers in the province – so when you’re racing with them, you end up leaving with a real solid understanding of what to do and what not to do. It’s like going to college.”
Reinhart is in the midst of a career-year with the cross-province tour, and will enter the next round at Sauble Speedway sitting third in the current championship points standings.
Looking back on how far his team has come in three short years, the Shelburne, ON racer credits his recent growth to a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes before and after race time.
“When it’s feature time – and it comes to making decisions in what to do to the car – I feel like that’s really where I’ve made a lot of gains,” says the up-and-comer. “My feedback is better and my understanding of how the car needs to feel is better – and that’s made an immediate impact on what I can do behind the wheel.”
With his Reinhart Trailers-backed team continuing to trend upwards, Reinhart believes they’re finally on the doorstep to breaking through to their first career tour victory.
“The closer we get to a win, the more I want to finally just get my hands on that trophy,” laughs Reinhart. “We’ve had some great runs already this year and every time we load up at the end of the night we feel like we’re closer to being one of the top teams on this tour.”
“I know that we’re capable of winning one of these races,” continues the 23-year old. “It’s just all about giving ourselves the chance to make it happen. The rest of these guys bring it to you every night, so if we can finally do everything right and put together the perfect night – it’ll be something we never forget.”
