ALCONA BEACH, ON – After having added his second career Sunset Speedway Super Stock feature win to his resume this past Saturday, it’s safe to say that mercurial rising star Coltin Everingham is working with newfound bravado that’s unlike anything he’s experienced thus far.
“Every single time we race at Sunset – I walk out of the pits with a little bit more confidence,” explains Everingham with a wide smile. “But, after a run like we had on Saturday, I walked out of there with a lot more confidence than normal.”
“This team gave me the perfect car,” adds the up-and-comer. “There wasn’t a driver out there that had anything for us on Saturday. We could’ve gone all night if we had to. And that feels amazing.”
There’s no question that Everingham’s stock as been on the rise this season, after debuting a brand new Streamline Race Products chassis at the beginning of the 2017 campaign, and partnering with veteran Crew Chief and manufacturer Shaun McWhirter.
“We’re getting stronger every week – no one that’s watching us can argue that,” shrugs the third-generation racer. “We were forced to play that ‘underdog’ role for way too long. We’re through with that. We can beat any Super Stock driver in Ontario right now.”
“I believe, with everything in me, that we’re a top level team,” adds Everingham. “I’m a top level driver – wether people like it or not. Our performances this season have earned us the right to be in the same sentences as any of the top guys in this division.”
With two solid victories to their credit – in addition to a litany of top-5 finishes this season – few could argue Everingham and his family-run operation for shifting their focus to the ultimate prize: next season’s Sunset Speedway track championship.
“We’re going to win that 2018 championship,” boasts the Alcona Beach, ON racer. “That’s the goal we’ve set for ourselves – and we’re going to stick to it. Feel free to quote me on it.”
“As hungry and determined as this team is right now – I can’t see anything stopping us,” continues Everingham. “We’re only going to get better. We’re going to be stronger. We’re getting ready to do everything in our power to run through this division for that championship next year. Just watch us.”
