ALCONA, ON – As Sunset Speedway prepares to open up its 2018 season next Saturday, May 5th, perennial Super Stock contender Coltin Everingham is putting the finishing touches on his family-owned No.48 as he readies for another run towards a first career track championship.
“We couldn’t ask for a better car than what we have right now,” says Everingham. “We’re hoping to be fast right off the trailer and make adjustment throughout the night to get even quicker.”
“The guys we’re competing against are so good – we don’t have the luxury of ‘easing into’ a season. You can’t take a night off. You have to get after it right from Night One. You’ve got to be as close to perfect as you can get.”
After a break out season last year, Coltin hopes to regain his momentum and utilize the lessons learned during his breakout season for an even more successful 2018.
“2017 was – without question – the best year we’ve ever had as a team,” recalls Everingham. “We’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished. With the level of talent on this roster, any time you can have a shot at a championship it means the world.”
“We were reminded of how much work it takes to run at the front against these teams every single week last year,” continues the driver of the new look #48 machine. “We most definitely went through some wars last year, but those kind of battles only make you better as a driver and a team.”
“I made some huge gains in my driving style last year – and even on the nights when things didn’t go my way I learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t.”
“If you had asked me a few months ago what the plan was – I really don’t think I would have had an answer for you,” admits the fan favourite. “But, we’ve had some sponsors and some other supporters step up in a huge way for us over the Winter. We’re all in, now.”
“We’ve got our sights set on getting back to victory lane. That’s all we’ve been talking about for weeks. A win next Saturday will set the stage for that. I’m excited for what we have up our sleeves this season.”
