TRENTON, ON – Days removed from earning victory in Brighton Speedway’s season opener on May 11th, Crate Late Model heavyweight Charlie Sandercock will resume his march towards a 6th career weekly championship this Saturday.
“Opening Night will always come with extra pressure no matter who you are or what you’ve won,” explains Sandercock. “You spend hours and hours and hours in the shop all Winter tweaking and trying to figure out how to maximize your stuff – so seeing it pay off right away is a pretty incredible feeling.”
“My guys gave me an awesome car right out of the box – it was a pleasure a drive,” adds the Trenton, ON native. “We were able to show the rest of the division that we haven’t lost a step over the offseason. We ended up leaving with a ton of momentum.”
This Saturday, Sandercock will be tasked with proving that his success during the season opener was anything but a one-off, as Brighton’s Crate Late Models return to action for Round 2 of their lengthy 2019 schedule.
“Last Saturday’s win felt like a bit of pressure taken off of our shoulders,” notes Sandercock. “As soon as you get the first win of the season out of the way it’s a lot easier to get back into your rhythm. We know we’re good enough to win, now. We’ve showed it. Now we’re ready to make the right decisions and take advantage of whatever opportunity presents itself on Saturday.”
