ALCONA, ON – Hot on the heels of a multiple win season in 2018, Super Stock standout Brandon Passer and his family-owned team are in the midst of tooling-up for a return to full time competition in 2019 and a push towards what he hopes will be a first career championship.
“It’s been overwhelming to experience the kind of success that we’ve had these last two years,” says Passer, “but I know that we’re still a long way from hitting our potential. There’s a ton of work for us to do if we want to hit that next level.”
The son of former Super Late Model regular Gary Passer, Brandon has demonstrated an innate ability to learn and adapt which has lead numerous fans and industry insiders to point to the teenager as one of the future faces of the Super Stock division.
“We’ve been pretty lucky to have made a lot of laps in a lot of different situations during these last three years or so,” says Passer. “I try and take all that I can from every race I finish. It doesn’t matter if you’re running up front or stuck deep in the field – you should be able to learn something from every lap if you’re paying close enough attention.”
“This season our goal is just to take all of the information that we’ve saved up over the last three years and use it to push towards a championship. That (Sunset Speedway Super Stock) roster is stacked as hell but I know that we have nothing to be intimidated by as long as we keep working the way we have been.”
Born into a third-generation racing family, Passer understands there are numerous elements necessary to secure a division championship – but he’s more than ready to do his part to ensure his team has the chance to be in the conversation once the points standings heat up late in the season.
“No matter who you are or what you’ve done, when you’re racing for a championship you always have to be just as lucky as you are good,” explains Passer.
“There’s not really much we can do to change our luck. But, there’s a lot we can do to make sure our equipment is ready to go on race day and there’s a lot I can do to make sure I make the right decisions on race day.”
“We have an awesome car and I have a group of guys behind me that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world,” continues the well-spoken fan favourite. “In my opinion, that’s exactly what I need to be a champion. So, now, it’s up to us to make it happen.”
