ALCONA, ON – Just two weeks removed from his first career Sunset Speedway Super Stock feature win, super stock star Brandon Passer added a second triumph on July 7th and will enter this coming Saturday hoping for a third win in just four starts.
“I still feel like I have to slap myself every few minutes just to make sure this is really happening,” Stated Passer when asked his thoughts on his early-season hot streak.
“It’s just an unbelievable feeling. We started in this division two years ago as an also-ran team – and now all of a sudden guys are pointing to us like we’re a threat to win every Saturday. It’s incredible.”
Passer showed considerable promise throughout his 2017 sophomore season and credits the lessons learned throughout last year for propelling him into contention.
“I was proud of all that we broke through and accomplish last season – but there were definitely nights where I rolled back to the trailer and felt like I could have done more,” admits the Alcona, ON native. “We knew that if we wanted a better season this year we had to try and limit those nights as much as possible. So far, it’s been working for us.”
But, while Passer is justifiably ecstatic with the results of the last month, he knows that his work is just beginning when it comes to establishing himself as a perennial Super Stock contender.
“I think the rest of these guys definitely know that we’re here now,” remarks Passer with a laugh. “There’s no question that we’ve shown everyone how serious we’re taking our stuff now. But, I don’t want to get lost in all of the success and just assume that we’re going to be able to come out and skate through this field every week – because that’s just not possible.”
“It’s an awesome feeling to podium here – and it’s even more amazing to win,” continues the third-generation standout. “But, I know that if we want to keep being able to do that, we have to work for it. So, we’ll get back in the shop all week because I know that we haven’t hit the ceiling yet on what this car can do. We can contend for another win this Saturday if we work hard enough.”
