BRAMPTON, ON – After a difficult 2017 season, third-generation racer Billy Zardo and his family-operated Zardo Racing team have already begun preparations for what they hope will be a bounce-campaign in 2018.
“Our team has already put whatever happened this year in the rearview,” shrugs Zardo with a smile. “It’s time to move past it. We had a rough season but it’s not going to make us give up. That’s not what we do. We’re already making plans for and how we can make it our best year yet.”
‘Z3’ struggled through mechanical issues throughout 2017 that kept his Holmes on Homes-backed outfit from registering a single podium for the first time in his near decade-long Sunset Speedway career.
“When you work through a year like that it absolutely makes you question how bad you want to succeed,” offers the Brampton, ON racer. “We’ve never stopped working towards our goal – which is to get back to winning and get back to contending for championships. That’s where our mindset is for this season.”
The multi-time Sunset Speedway winner plans on returning to the Ltd. Late Model division in 2018 with refreshed equipment and a new outlook on competition.
“By the time we roll in on practice day we’ll have gone through this whole car inch-by-inch,” explains Zardo. “It’s getting the TLC that it needs to get us back to the front.”
“I still believe in our team. I’ve never stopped believing. We’re prepared enough to win, our equipment is good enough to win and we work hard enough to win. Now – we just need to put it all together.”
