SAUBLE BEACH, ON – 2016 APC United Late Model Series champion Andrew Gresel will have his Hy-Grade Roofing-sponsored team ready to take their first step towards a second series title this weekend – as the cross-province tour kicks off their 2018 campaign at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity.
“The first race of the season is always going to be one of the most important events on the schedule,” explains Gresel. “If we have a good performance at Sunset, we can walk out of the Spring Velocity with a ton of momentum. We’re excited to show the rest of these teams how ready we are to race for another championship.”
A 7-time APC United Late Model Series event winner, Gresel hopes to enter his fourth full-season with the tour with a plan to grow stronger each week.
“Our goal is always to build our program up from one event to the next,” says the second-generation racer. “We want to exaggerate the positives of every one of our races and then improve on the negatives. As long as we’re making strides and getting faster – I’m a happy guy.”
And, in typical APC Series fashion, Gresel is expecting to come up against the absolute best that the Pro Late Model division has to offer in the weekend’s 100-lap feature event.
“No matter where the tour goes – you’re going to get the best of the best showing up,” says the former Super Late Model champion. “But that’s exactly why we’re all there. We want to race against the best guys available. When you can be on track with the top competition in the province – it makes the win feel that much sweeter.”
