BARRIE, ON – Second-generation driver Dustyn Momborquette turned in his most impressive season to date during Sunset Speedway’s 2017 campaign and he and his family-owned team could not be happier.

“We really wanted this year to be the one that we turned the corner and started to contend,” smiles Momborquette. “My Dad and I worked real hard over the off-season to put this new car together and we knew it was going to give us a chance to show how good we could be.”

“It was a dream come true from start to finish,” continues the Barrie, ON racer. “This car was fast right from practice day, it responded the way we needed it to and it just got better as the year went on.”

The 16-year old now has four full seasons of competition under his belt and feels as though he is just not starting to come into his own as a driver.

“I’ve learned so much in the last four years and I’m still getting better every week,” says the Barrie, ON native. “There’s so much to adjust to with these cars. It’s a process. I can’t not smile when I look back at how far I’ve come. It’s been an awesome ride – we’re just getting started.”

For 2018, Momborquette intends to continue trending upwards, as his family-run operation looks to contend for their first career Super Stock title.

“We’ll be back fulltime next year for sure,” nods the son of multi-time Sunset Speedway winner John Momborquette. “I just want to keep improving and keep giving our team something to be proud of.”

“A championship would change my life,” adds Momborquette. “It would be the biggest thing to have ever happened to me. That’s how much it means. So, yah, that’s absolutely our goal.”
