HARRISTON , ON – Rising star Travis McLean will spend his sophomore Super Stock campaign following the entirety of the upstart Great Lakes Concrete Super Stock Series in 2018.
The six-race schedule will pit McLean against some of the top talent in the Super Stock division, with both Sunset and Sauble Speedway hosting three events apiece.
“I really believe that we can put together a complete season this tour and come away with a top-10 finish in the standings,” insists McLean.
“Our Sauble package grew by leaps and bounds last season and we’re real excited to get to work on our Sunset stuff. This series is going to give us the perfect chance to race against top-level talent at our two favourite tracks in the province.”
The third-generation raced fulltime at Sauble in 2017, and credits the weekly competition in the speedway’s Thunder Car division with helping to prepare him for the six-race mini-series.
“Racing against the Sauble roster for the whole season most definitely prepared us for what we’re going up against in this series,” notes the well-spoken teenager.
“The Sauble guys are some of the best around and they didn’t make it easy on us for a single lap last year. We know that we have our work cut out for us – but that’s no different than our entire 2017 season was.”
And, after fine-tuning his Sauble Speedway setup last season, McLean will enter 2018 focused on improving his Sunset Speedway package over the course of his three appearances at the facility.
“Finding a way to maximize our Sunset program is going to be the difference-maker for us,” says McLean. “If we could put together three really strong showings there – then we’ll be in a good spot to finish top-10 in the standings. I’m looking forward to laying down a lot of laps there this season and doing all that we can to be better every time we roll out of the hauler.”
