Taylor Holdaway Preparing for Speedfest Debut this January

ORILLIA, ON – Former Sunset Speedway Ltd. Late Model champion Taylor Holdaway will make his JEGS CRA All-Stars debut in January as part of Watermelon Capital Speedway’s annual Speedfest weekend in Cordele, GA.

The multi-time feature winner will look to utilize the star-studded event as a kickoff to a Pro Late Model transition that has been two years in the making.

“I haven’t backed away from a challenge my whole career – and this is about as intense as it gets,” laughs Holdaway. “We’ve been wanting to go Pro Late Model racing for a while now and all the pieces have finally fallen into place. This is a huge opportunity to see where our program is at and how much farther it needs to go.”

Holdaway has not yet committed to a 2018 schedule but at present hopes to be a regular presence with the APC United Late Model Series.

“We’re at a ‘wait and see’ point right now,” explains the Orillia, ON-based hotshoe. “If Cordele is an awesome experience for us then it’s definitely going to make it a lot easier to fill out a schedule full of Pro Late [Model] shows.”

“It’s too early to make any sort of promises but I’d love to focus on a full Pro Late Model program,” continues Holdaway. “That’s where we’re headed. Right now, it’s just a matter of when we get there.”

When asked if there’s a considerable degree of intimidation that comes with entering an event of Speedfest’s magnitude, Holdaway can’t help but flash a bit of his trademark confidence.

“We believe in ourselves no matter what we’re racing or where we’re racing it. That’s the way you have to think when you’re competing against a high-grade of talent week-in and week-out.”

“There’s no question that the guys we’ll be up against [at Speedfest] will be more well known than the teams we race every Saturday. But – the Ontario guys are as tough as anyone. We’re ready to test ourselves against the best talent possible.”

“We don’t have any expectations going into this deal other than to give our everything,” continues the second-generation star. “If we put in the effort that I know we’re capable of – then everything will take care of itself.”
