Scott Wylie Gunning for Hillside Speedway Sport Mod Title in 2018

HAMBURG, NY – Popular Open Wheel Modified standout Scott Wylie has confirmed he will once again work with the lauded Paul Graff Trucking team for an aggressive schedule of Sport Modified competition at speedways across Western New York and Ontario.

Highlighting a schedule of 25+ events will be a fulltime campaign at Hillside Speedway, in search of a first career track championship in the speedplant’s headline division.

“I couldn’t be happier to be back with the [Paul Graff Trucking] team for another season,” says Wylie. “Hillside is an exciting place right now as far as the Sport Mods are concerned. There’s a ton of tough competition there right now and it has the perfect opportunity to be one of the best run facilities in New York state.”

“We know that we’ll have to be at our absolute best every week if we want to be able to contend there,” continues the Hamburg, NY native. “This division doesn’t ever take a step backward. It’s more intense every year. It’s more difficult to win and you have to put in more effort. It’s a huge challenge – but we’re ready for it.”

Wylie is certainly no stranger to success at the Holland, NY speedway, having most recently won the prestigious George Decker Memorial last August.

“Hillside is a speedway I’ve always enjoyed competing at,” says the second-generation racer. “I think we showed everyone during the [George Decker] Memorial race that we have a package capable of contending with the best of the best there.”

“We’re looking forward to committing to a full season and trying to chase down a championship. We know that it won’t be possible without being prepared for every single show from start to finish – so that’s our goal for the year.”

“Winning a championship – no matter what you’re racing or where you’re racing it – is always going to be about discipline,” adds the well-spoken veteran. “If we can exercise the discipline not to put ourselves in a bad spot on track, and then use that same discipline to get in the shop every night to get this car better and better, then I think we stand a good chance at making some noise this year.”
