KINCARDINE, ON – Two-time Sauble Speedway Mini Stock champion Kevin Bridge will look to add another title to his already impressive resume in 2018.
The longtime division heavyweight has confirmed his Spira Fire Protection-backed outfit will follow the entirety of the upstart Great Lakes Concrete Mini Stock Series that will split 6 events evenly between Sauble Speedway and Sunset Speedway.
“As a fan and a driver – I love the fact that the two tracks are coming together to make this series happen,” explains Bridge. “Our team supported this deal when it was the Home and Home Series a few years ago. So, when this series was announced that it was coming back, we knew that we would be on board.”
And for Bridge – a former Sunset Speedway feature winner – the unenviable task of formulating a strategy to win at the facility is par for the course in order to contend for the mini-series title.
“Our Sunset package is something that we’ve become incredibly proud of,” notes the Kincardine, ON native. “We’ve won there before. And, we know that if we want to be able to contend for this championship, we’re going to need to win there again. That’s our number one goal this season.”
With talent from clear across the province expected to compete with the mini-series, Bridge knows the level of respect and bragging rights that are likely to accompany the inaugural championship.
“I really believe that these six races are going to be the high water mark for the Mini Stock division this year,” says Bridge. “If you want to show just how good your team is – those six races are going to be where you’ll need to prove it.”
“We’ve been working all Winter for this,” continues the father of three. “I know that our team and our equipment is absolutely strong enough to win this championship. We just need to put the hours in and make the right decisions. If we can do that, we stand a real strong chance of making something happen.”
