“I think the Hot Rod Series is exactly what racing in Ontario needs right now,” says McLean. “The growth that it’s had in the last year has been unbelievable. There are teams all across the province that want to be a part of it. I’m loving the buzz surrounding this deal and the adrenaline is kicking in a little bit more every single day.”
McLean’s family-operated team will debut a freshly-built Chevrolet Chevelle with intentions of contending for the tour’s Rookie of the Year title.
“This is all turning into a best case scenario for me,” explains the North Bay, ON racer. “Because it’s the perfect schedule driving my dream car.”
“I loved every minute that I spent in the Mini Stock division – but I knew that it was time for our team to move on and try a new challenge,” adds McLean. “This tour is going to be the perfect fit for us. I’m excited to learn about our new car and do what we can to get this rookie championship.”
The Hot Rod Series will kickoff its 2018 season at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity weekend in May – and McLean believes the event will provide the ideal opportunity to make an impression with the tour.
“We were always able to get around Sunset well in our Mini Stock and I’m excited to get back there with the [Hot Rod],” notes McLean. “It’s an awesome chance for us to put together a strong start to the season. We’re ready.”
