Gary Elliott Primed for Second IWK 250 Appearance

WATERDOWN, ON – Longtime Ontario Late Model participant Gary Elliott has made the long trek across Canada to take part in his second career IWK 250 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, NS. And although his low-budget, volunteer-led team will be toe-to-toe with some of the country’s very best, Elliott remains unintimidated by the challenge.

‘’I feel our team has the ability to find another gear and perform that much better when there are bigger stakes on the line,’’ says the veteran.

“We’re headed to Nova Scotia this weekend with our best stuff. We’ll have our A-Game because I know every other team in the pit area will be doing the same. We all want to win a race of this magnitude”.

The Waterdown, ON racer is no stranger to playing the role of ‘underdog’ and maintains that his team’s drive and dedication could aid them when battling the Maritime’s perennial heavyweights.

‘’We just don’t have the budget to outspend these guys and we don’t have the man-power to out-muscle them,” admits Elliott. “We’re well aware of that going into this weekend”.

“But, I really believe that our team has some intangibles that you can’t measure on paper. Our guys have a willingness to compete and a spirit to perform that’s unlike any other team in the country – and that’s important to me”.

Above all else, Elliott insists he and his team are most excited just to have the opportunity to participate and be a part of the IWK 250 festivities for the second consecutive season.

‘’We’re always going to be thrilled just to show up and be in the event,’’ explains Elliott. ‘’We came out here last season and finished 27th and I couldn’t have been happier because I had the chance to race with guys like Donald Chisholm and John Flemming and Cassius Clark. These guys are winners. Some of the very best of the best and I’m excited to share the track with them”.

“This is something that not many drivers get to do even once – and we’ve now had the chance to do it two years in a row,” adds the OSCAAR Modified Tour regular. “I’m truly blessed beyond belief no matter where I finish this weekend”.
