Gary Elliott Counting on Big Performance during Flamboro’s Don Biederman Memorial Event

WATERDOWN, ON – Short track veteran Gary Elliott will be back behind the wheel of an OSCAAR Modified Tour entry this Saturday, as the lauded Don Biederman Memorial weekend descends on Elliott’s home-track – Flamboro Speedway.

‘’We’re always looking forward to bringing our team home and racing in front of friends and family,’’ says Elliott. “It’s always exciting to race at Flamboro because I truly believe it’s the best facility in the province. But, it’s even more special to be a part of an event that has Don Biederman’s name on it”.

“The formal memorial race might be for the Super Late Models, but it’s just as important of a night for the Modified teams,” adds the Waterdown, ON native. “Every driver on the OSCAAR roster has a deep respect for what Don accomplished in our sport”.

The former Pro Late Model and Canadian Vintage Modified Series regular has established himself as a constant presence at the front of the OSCAAR Modified Series pack and will look to carve out another top-3 performance on Saturday.

‘’We’ve really found ourselves in the last few years,’’ offers Elliott. ‘’The Modified division has been the perfect home for us – and we’re stronger now than we’ve been in a long time”.

“It’s been years since I’ve really felt like I’ve been a threat on a weekly basis, but that’s exactly where we are now. We can podium at any time in this car, and I don’t think we’ve had that sort of confidence since our days in the [Canadian] Vintage Modified”.

And even though Elliott has raced at countless speedways across North America, he would still rank a Don Biederman Memorial triumph amongst his career highlights.

‘’Winning during the Biederman Memorial weekend would absolutely count as one of the biggest moments of my career,’’ says the longtime Flamboro Speedway regular.

‘’I’ve had a lot of nights behind the wheel in a race car. More than just about anyone else in this province. But a win on Saturday would be something I’d remember for the rest of my life. This is a marquee race – and coming out on top is a marquee win. There isn’t a driver on our roster that could argue that”.
